18.00

Continuing with the tradition of teklid studies , this beautiful folio of Hadith is the great calligrapher Hasan Riza’s (d.1920) interpretation of a work by his teacher Kaziasker Mustafa Izzet, (d.1876) the most influential calligrapher of the high Ottoman period. Hasan Riza is considered one of the last of the great masters and laid the foundation for all 20th century calligraphy.

The illuminations were also all completed by Hasan Riza, a rare achievement that makes this piece all the more special.

It contains ten panels, all in the form of a kitaa, with one line of Thuluth/Sulus calligraphy and 5 lines of Naskh/Nesih script in the middle. All panels are illuminated in the koltuk indentations and bordered with pink and orange borders.

Presented in an accordion binding with the original cover. Actual size, 12x10”/30x2cm.
